Esha is the first daughter of veteran actors Dharmendra and Hema Malini, half-sister to actors Bobby Deol and Sunny Deol, and cousin to actor Abhay Deol. Her younger sibling, Ahana Deol is planning to enter Bollywood as a director, not as an actress like the rest of her family.
She attended Jamnabai Narsee School, where she excelled at soccer. She is also an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer and was trained by her mother, who is a famous exponent of that particular dance form herself.
Esha is a fitness fanatic and her physique is showcased in Dhoom which was her biggest hit. She's one of only a few Indian actress who can boast of a six-pack. Esha is also extremely strong and does serious weight lifting. She also speaks Tamil fluently.
